Recap de semana 2: Durante el finde visitamos a Sarapiquí: y . El martes tuvimos mucha suerte y hicimos un tour del y disfrutamos de un espectáculo de ópera por la noche como parte de su programa “martes líricos”. La Profa Marta tiene muchas ganas de hacer hikisitos, así que el miércoles fuimos a y caminamos el sendero de 5k (la Profe Mandy es loca y lo corrió. ¡La mayoría llegó a la Mano de Mantra, donde la Profe Mandy estaba esperándoles jeje!

Anoche fuimos a Red Rocks para ver la puesta del sol. ¡Hace mucho viento hoy y casi nos llevó mientras caminos al Centro Histórico de las Mujeres! Aprendimos sobre las mujeres de la familia Evans, cuyos esfuerzos beneficiaron la Cruz Roja y el movimiento sufragio. Después hicimos un tour del Museo de Arte y vimos arte del periodo precolombino y colonial + muchas exposiciones e instalaciones por artistas hispanos contemporáneos. ¡Los estudiantes disfrutaron mucho de la experiencias interactivas!

The last few days have been filled with learning experiences and adventures. Local Chicano artist and professor emeritus Carlos Fresquez spoke with students about his experience as an artist and activist in Denver. Carlos’s family has been in the United States since the 1600s! His friend, Su Teatro’s Executive Artistic Director Tony Garcia gave us a captivating tour of the theater and its history. He described Su Teatro as “for the community, about the community, by the community”. Friday we headed to St. Mary’s Glacier and stopped by the Indian Hot Springs on the way home to relax our sore muscles. We capped off the weekend by enjoying Venezuelan arepas and visiting the Cinco de Mayo Festival.
