A big Thank You to SCI-Greene and the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for allowing Dr. Cairns’ Corrections class to tour the facility and learn about daily operations in Corrections. Such field experiences are a hallmark of Waynesburg University’s Criminal Justice program.

SCI Greene recently welcomed a group from Waynesburg University for a college tour of the facility.

Dr. Cairns, a retired DOC employee who now teaches Criminal Justice and Social Sciences at Waynesburg, joined the visit and is pictured alongside Lt. Oswald, who coordinates the facility’s college tours.

Lt. Oswald consistently provides engaging and informative tours, often giving visitors the opportunity to see many areas within the facility. During this visit, the students had the opportunity to explore dietary, commissary, maintenance, PA Correctional Industries, building trades, activities, education, the library, and both Level 5 and general population visiting areas.

These visits provide valuable opportunities to connect with students and offer insight into careers in the DOC.
