Educating barrier-breaking, paradigm-shifting, world-changing leaders past, present & future. More than a college, Wellesley is a force for change in the world.

Every day, we prove Wellesley’s founding radical idea—that educating women leads to progress for everyone. A Wellesley education prepares students to realize their own highest ambitions and aspirations—and they do. Widely acknowledged to be one of the nation’s premier colleges and the top women’s college, we are unparalleled in educating path-breaking women in every arena. Disclaimer

We love seeing our campus community come together to learn something new, share ideas, and enjoy a beautiful fall day.

Students gathered outside the Science Center on Wednesday for a Natural Dye Workshop led by Mexican textile artist Ana Cris Palmeros, the newest Practitioner for the Center for the Environment.

From learning about natural dyeing to preparing their own materials, participants spent the afternoon exploring a creative process together.

Gloria Steinem has died at the age of 92. She gave two Wellesley commencement speeches, one in 1988 and one in 1993. From 1988: ”If we accept micro and mega computers, space umbrellas, and cracking the mystery of the human cell, why can't we accept things as small as changing the way we pay each other, honor each other, work together, and raise our children?“
Here are the texts of her speeches:
