Meet Dr. Doreen Mazzye, director of Gordon College’s new Doctor of Education in the Science of Learning. Her work began with a question that emerged throughout her career as an educator and parent: Why are so many students still struggling to learn to read?

Today, that question continues to shape her work. Through Gordon’s new Ed.D. program, Dr. Mazzye is helping prepare educational leaders with expertise in the science of learning and the science of reading, two fields of research that seek to better understand how people learn and how educators can support that process.

“Our nation is experiencing a literacy crisis,” says Mazzye. “Action is required.”

Gordon College is delighted to celebrate Professor Karl-Dieter Crisman, who recently received the Deborah and Franklin Tepper Haimo Award for Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics from the Mathematical Association of America.

For more than two decades, Professor Crisman has mentored students in the classroom and through research, created hands-on learning experiences, and taught mathematics around the world. His work reflects Gordon’s commitment to educating the whole person and helping students grow in knowledge, character, and calling.

From Wenham to Henley. 🚣🔔 This summer, Gordon College rowers Emily Nerger, Quinn Arico, Sarah Petrenko and LilyAnna Hopkins will compete in the Academic Aspirational Quad (AA4x) at the Henley Women’s Regatta, the premier regatta for women in the United Kingdom.

Led by coach Maddie Hopkins, the crew will race on the River Thames at an event that draws more than 2,000 rowers from across the UK and around the world.
