Every technician starts somewhere. Sometimes it's in the driver's seat of a big rig at age five.

Last week, instructor Shawn Ray brought the Ranken diesel truck to Big Truck Night at Stone Creek Elementary, hosted by the Wentzville School District Parents as Teachers. Getting to see kids light up over the truck was the highlight of our week.

Great instructors stay plugged into the industry they teach.

Last week, Dan Stevens, Department Chair of our Building Systems Design (BSD) program at our Wentzville location, attended Autodesk University in Las Vegas to see how AI is changing Revit and the AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) world.

He came back with ideas on AI-integrated training, cloud-based collaboration, and connectivity for remote learning, all with Ranken's BSD program in mind.

When our faculty keep learning, our students train on what's coming, in addition to what's already in place. Thanks for representing Ranken in Vegas, Dan!

Our agriculture engineering technology instructor Megan Lavy presented at last week’s MVATA conference in Springfield, showcasing our hands-on agricultural engineering curriculum. She showcased agriscience, agricultural mechanics, aquaculture and hydroponics, and how it prepares students for in-demand ag careers. With many Missouri high school ag teachers in attendance, we had a strong turnout and lots of interest in hydroponics as a classroom-to-career pathway.

We've wrapped up our adventure academies for this summer and we're sad to see all of our campers go, but we know you all had an amazing time! From building and launching rockets, to welding, to watching baby chicks hatch. This type of hands-on learning isn't something you get at every summer camp. If you missed out, be sure to sign up early next summer! We hope to see everyone again soon.
