Dr. Doreen Szollosi has been named Interim Dean of the University of Saint Joseph’s School of Pharmacy & PA Studies, effective July 1, 2026.

A founding faculty member of USJ’s Pharmacy program, Szollosi joined the University in 2010 and has served as Assistant Dean of Pharmacy Academic Affairs since 2022.

In recent years, Szollosi played a key role in leading a comprehensive redesign of the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) curriculum. This fall, USJ athletics will take to the ice. With the launch of its men’s and women’s NCAA Division III ice hockey programs, USJ is expanding both its athletic footprint and its presence in one of the region’s most competitive collegiate sports landscapes.

Anticipation is building as USJ prepares to debut its new programs this October at the International Skating Center of Connecticut (ISCC) in Simsbury — a milestone that signals growth and a renewed sense of energy across campus.

The addition of ice hockey brings USJ’s varsity programs to 16, underscoring the University’s continued investment in student opportunity, athletic excellence, and community engagement.

In a June 12 article in The Nation, Assistant Professor of English Aidan Levy examines an 80-year-old miscarriage of justice that has at last been overturned.

In 1946, Walter Rollins, the father of jazz legend Sonny Rollins, was the subject of a racially motivated court martial and tried by the U.S. Navy; despite no material evidence, Walter Rollins was convicted. Last month, after years of effort by Civil Rights attorney Tamara L. Miller and Levy, who became a close friend of Sonny Rollins after writing the musician’s biography, the Navy issued a posthumous exoneration of Walter Rollins — a vindication that Sonny Rollins got the chance to witness before his own death on May 25 at the age of 95.

“Justice long delayed, but not ultimately denied, for Sonny Rollins and his family,” said Levy.
