Better tools for monitoring neurological injuries can help researchers develop more effective treatments.

Purdue BME professor Hyowon Lee recently developed a patented glutamate biosensor with significantly improved sensitivity for detecting glutamate, a neurotransmitter linked to spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions. The technology could help researchers better understand injury progression and support future therapeutic advances.

Purdue BME courtesy professor David Cappelleri recently developed a patented portable system that combines microrobot control, ultrasound imaging and localized heating into a single platform. The technology could support future applications in targeted drug delivery, directed sample collection and microrobot-assisted procedures.
