On his first day on campus at Purdue University , Ken Rich was told during his physical examination that he wouldn't graduate unless he improved his speech. Rich began to work with a professor and graduate student in department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Purdue and retained his dream of becoming Purdue's 1959 senior class president.

Although clinical approaches have evolved since Rich's day on campus, the M.D. Steer Speech, Language and Hearing Clinics remain committed to providing evidence-based, person-centered services that support he communication and hearing needs of individuals across the lifespan.
