The Purdue University School of Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Engineering (SEE) is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Sustainability Engineering.

We're looking for exceptional scholars and educators whose research advances sustainability through areas such as energy and resource efficiency, sustainable manufacturing, recycling and remanufacturing, green design, life cycle engineering, and more.

On Sunday, Purdue SEE students will represent the School of Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Engineering at the WEFTEC Student Design Competition in New Orleans. The team will present its work and compete alongside students from universities around the world at one of the water sector's largest annual conferences.

Does direct air capture create more carbon than it removes?

That's the question Purdue researchers set out to answer in a new study led by Rebecca Ciez, assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering and Sustainability Engineering and Environmental Engineering.

The research reveals that the environmental footprint of producing and replacing carbon-capturing materials may be more significant than previously understood, underscoring the importance of designing durable, sustainable systems.

From the first EEE PhD graduate to a leader in sustainable materials research.

Ehsan Vahidi helped make history as the first PhD graduate of Purdue's Environmental and Ecological Engineering program. Today, he is an internationally recognized researcher and department chair whose work focuses on critical minerals, battery materials and sustainable supply chains.

As SEE marks its 20th anniversary, Vahidi reflects on how Purdue's interdisciplinary approach, faculty mentorship and emphasis on systems thinking prepared him to tackle some of the world's most pressing sustainability challenges.
