🎙️ Dr. Brooke Macnamara, featured on APA’s Speaking of Psychology.

Dr. Brooke Macnamara, associate professor of Psychological Sciences at Purdue, recently joined the American Psychological Association’s Speaking of Psychology podcast to discuss the psychology of cognitive offloading and what happens when we use AI to take on tasks that once required our own skills.

In the episode, Dr. Macnamara explores what early research can tell us about AI’s effects on learning, memory, and expertise. She discusses how relying on AI may change the way we learn, why its effects may differ for novices and experts, and how we can use these tools in ways that support rather than undermine long-term skill development.
