Congratulations to Professor Brent Jesiek on receiving the 2026 Sterling Olmsted Award in Charlotte last week. The award is the highest honor presented by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Liberal Education/Engineering & Society Division (LEES).
The Sterling Olmsted Award recognizes individuals who have made distinguished contributions to the development and teaching of liberal arts in engineering education.
Jesiek, associate head of graduate programs for Purdue Engineering Education with a joint appointment in Purdue Electrical and Computer Engineering, draws on expertise from engineering, computing, and the social sciences to advance engineering education research. His work explores global competency and boundary spanning in engineering practice, ethics and social responsibility among engineering students.
The award was presented during the 2026 ASEE Annual Conference by LEES Chair Marie Stettler Kleine.
