As part of the bridge team, Lola:

Updated the 5-week look-ahead schedule for crews and subcontractors

Created detailed work plans for crews

Performed anchor bolt calculations

Measured slope protection quantities after concrete pours

Checked existing bearings and sole plates to ensure new orders matched specifications

Oversaw a subcontractor’s work on cover depths for bridge widenings and existing bridges

Verified bearing pads and sole plates against shop drawings

Reflecting on her experience, Lola shared:

"I learned a lot this summer out in VA and found out I love working on bridges and the structure that goes into them. I really appreciate the team I worked with for teaching me everything there is to know about bridge rehabilitation and showing their dedication to the project."

Thank you to Allan Myers Inc. for supporting our students and giving them opportunities to learn through real-world, hands-on projects. The future of construction is bright!

He’s mastering technical language, learning refinery-specific procedures, and adapting to an environment that operates on a whole new level of complexity and precision compared to traditional construction.
"I’m focused on absorbing as much as I can each day — using every task and interaction to build a deep, meaningful understanding of how things work here."
A huge thank you to CITGO for supporting our students, making their internships matter, and helping them grow.
