Last month’s Professional Skills Lab (PSL) highlighted the many ways student pharmacists care for their communities! 💉
P2 students practiced counseling on insulin pen devices, strengthening the patient education skills they’ll carry into practice. At the Center for Healthy Living’s drive-through vaccine clinic, P4 APPE students supported immunization efforts, and faculty members received their flu shots. Students also took part in Wellness Land, an interactive activity that introduced them to the wellness resources and support services available on campus.

Congratulations to Dr. Omolola (Lola) Adeoye-Olatunde, PharmD, MS Darr-Chaney Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at the Purdue University College of Pharmacy, on being selected for the 2026 American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) New Investigator Award!
The award recognizes an ACCP member who has made a significant impact on clinical pharmaceutical science. Dr. Adeoye-Olatunde was honored for her innovative, community-engaged, and interdisciplinary research.
She is the founder and principal investigator of the HER Lab, a collaboratory within Purdue’s Center for Health Excellence, Quality and Innovation. The lab brings together more than 30 staff, postdoctoral fellows, students, and alumni to advance research at the intersection of community pharmacy, public health, and implementation science, with a focus on improving access to care and addressing health disparities. She also serves as director of community health partnerships at the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute.
In her words: “I hope this recognition signals that community-engaged research has an important place in clinical pharmacy and encourages the next generation of investigators to bring their full brilliance, passions, and perspectives to this work.”
She will be presented with the award on October 18th at the 2026 ACCP Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City. Congratulations, Dr. Adeoye-Olatunde, on this well-deserved national recognition!

We're thrilled to launch PHPR Grand Rounds, our new speaker series built around the theme "Advancing Pharmacy Practice."

On September 16, the Purdue University Department of Pharmacy Practice welcomed Dave Dixon, PharmD, Nancy and Ronald McFarlane Professor of Pharmacy and chair of the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy, as our inaugural speaker.

Dr. Dixon presented "Transforming Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Health: Pharmacists as Architects of Integrated Chronic Disease Care," exploring how pharmacists can bridge traditionally fragmented areas of chronic disease management and support more coordinated, patient-centered care.
His visit also included small-group meetings on practice, scholarship, education, and leadership, and a dedicated session with our ambulatory care faculty. The presentation connected participants across West Lafayette and Indianapolis and was approved for one hour of continuing pharmacy education credit.

Thank you, Dr. Dixon, for helping us kick off this series. We look forward to welcoming more national leaders to Purdue!

Our faculty, fellows, and grad students headed to Omaha, NE this June to present cutting-edge research in social and administrative pharmacy from community pharmacy services to diabetes care to Alzheimer’s risk factors.

Purdue’s roots with this conference go back to 1985, and we’re excited to host again in 2028 right here in West Lafayette!
