WILLIAM A. HANLEY, CLASS OF 1912, SIGMA PHI EPSILON
William A. Hanley was Eli Lilly & Co.’s first professional engineer, joining in 1911 and retiring in 1951 as head of engineering. He expanded company facilities from 14 to 65 buildings and led construction of one of the first air-conditioned pharmaceutical plants in the U.S. Hanley also established a steam and power interchange agreement with Indianapolis Power & Light. Beyond Lilly, he served as a Purdue University trustee and board president (1950–65), earning honorary degrees from Purdue, Rose Polytechnic, and St. Joseph’s. His civic service included leadership roles with the Indianapolis-Marion County Building Authority, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and U.S. Chamber of Commerce. A fellow of the AAAS and past president of ASME and the Newcomen Society, he also aided the U.S. Army Air Force and Navy during WWII.

RICHARD C. LENNOX, CLASS OF 1924, PHI KAPPA TAU
Richard C. Lennox earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue in 1924. He joined Phi Kappa Tau’s second class of initiates in 1921. After graduation, he became a prominent architect in Indiana, founding the firm Lennox, Matthews, Simmons & Ford, Inc. of Indianapolis. His work helped shape the architectural landscape of the state, with projects such as the Indiana Exposition and Convention Center and the first Indianapolis building to feature automatic elevators, now home to the Alpha Tau Omega headquarters. Beyond his design work, Lennox advanced safety and professional standards within Indiana’s architecture community. Deeply committed to Phi Kappa Tau, he designed the original Purdue chapter house—now the site of Wang Hall—and later the fraternity’s National Headquarters in Oxford, Ohio. Serving on the National Council from 1931 to 1940, Lennox became affectionately known as the “Grand Poobah,” leaving a lasting fraternal and professional legacy.

MAURICE L. “MAURI” WILLIAMSON, CLASS OF 1950, FARMHOUSE FRATERNITY
Maurice L. “Mauri” Williamson enrolled in Purdue’s School of Agriculture in 1946 on the GI Bill & graduated with Highest Distinction. As a student, he was editor of The Purdue Agriculturist, a member of the Reamers Club, and sang in the Varsity Glee Club. In 1953, he began his 37-year tenure as Executive Secretary of the Purdue Ag Alumni Association, where he founded the iconic Purdue Ag Fish Fry, organized the Ag Ambassador program, co-founded the National Association of Agriculture Alumni and Development Association, and established Pioneer Village at the Indiana State Fair, which he managed for 40 years. An Associate Member and advisor of FarmHouse Fraternity, Mauri also helped create the Purdue FarmHouse Foundation. He played a key role in fundraising for the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall, and upon retirement, the Ag Alumni Association established the Mauri Williamson Scholarship of Excellence in his honor. He received the Sagamore of the Wabash from four Indiana governors, the Hovde Award, the Sigma Delta Chi Leather Medal, and was named an Honorary Master Farmer.

JAMES E. “JIM” DORA, CLASS OF 1958, SIGMA CHI
James E. “Jim” Dora, born in Vincennes, Indiana in 1936, graduated from Purdue in 1958 and went on to build a career as founder and chairman of General Hotels Corporation, a developer and operator of award-winning hotels throughout Indianapolis and Central Indiana. He also served on the boards of American United Life Insurance Company, Bank One Indiana, and the Mayflower Corporation. Deeply devoted to Purdue and Sigma Chi Fraternity, he co-chaired a $7.4 million renovation of the Purdue chapter house and served the university as Chairman of the President’s Council, Vice Chairman of the Vision 21 Capital Campaign, an Old Master, and advisory board member for the RHIT Hotel School. A civic leader, Dora chaired the Capital Improvement Board of Managers from 1971 to 1993, guiding major developments in Indianapolis. He received Purdue’s Order of the Griffin and an Honorary Doctorate, as well as an Honorary Doctorate from Vincennes University, and was honored by Sigma Chi as both a “Significant Sig” and member of the Order of Constantine.

Born in Lafayette, he was a graduate of West Lafayette High School and a 1954 graduate of Purdue University. In 1956 he became a partner with his late father, Harry, in the Chocolate Shop which his father started in 1922 as a soda shop. In 1932 the business became a bar which was the first in West Lafayette. Harry Jr. became sole owner in 1972. He sold the business in 1978 when he went to work at Purdue National Bank.

TOM ROESER, CLASSES OF 1972, 1974, DELTA SIGMA PHI
At Purdue, Tom Roeser earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Mechanical Engineering. As an undergraduate, he served as chapter president and later as president of the Alumni Corporation Board. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi National Foundation from 1998 to 2009, serving as its board president. His dedication earned him the Harvey H. Herbert Memorial Award and the Delta Sigma Phi Career Achievement Award, recognizing professional excellence and service. Tom is President of OTTO Engineering, a leader in industrial controls and communication products. Under his leadership, the company has grown from $7 million to $170 million in sales and now employs over 500 people. A committed civic leader, he serves on the Boys and Girls Club board, the local school board, and received the Salvation Army’s William Booth Award for his community leadership and philanthropy.

ROBERT “BOB” MEYER DAVIDSON, CLASS OF 1964, TRIANGLE
Bob Davidson earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from Purdue in 1964. He began his career as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent Office while earning his JD from The George Washington Law School in 1967. After joining TRW as a patent attorney, he completed an MBA at UCLA in 1972 and rose to Vice President, managing multiple divisions. In 1978, Bob became Vice President and General Counsel of The Parsons Corporation, later advancing to Executive Vice President overseeing numerous subsidiaries and earning Engineering News-Record’s Executive of the Year honor. In 1989, he became Chairman and CEO of Davidson & Associates, an educational software company he and his wife, Jan (Purdue ’66), founded and led through an IPO and eventual sale. Together, they established the Davidson Institute for Talent Development, a leading organization supporting profoundly gifted youth. Most recently, Bob founded SpreeAI, which has achieved unicorn status.

ROBERT BOWEN, CLASS OF 1962, PHI DELTA THETA
Robert Bowen, a Bluffton, Indiana native and son of a civil engineer, earned his degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue in 1962, where he played saxophone in the Purdue Band. After working for a California firm, he returned to Indiana in 1967 to found Bowen Engineering, specializing in utility and water treatment plant construction. Today, the company operates in over a dozen states and ranks among Indiana’s largest private firms. In 1997, Robert and his wife, Terry, established the Bowen Foundation, which has provided scholarships to more than 300 minority students in Indianapolis. A strong advocate for leadership and education, he chaired the Center for Leadership Development for 24 years and, with Terry, funded Purdue’s Bowen High‐Scale Performance Civil Engineering Laboratory. The Bowens were named Indiana’s Outstanding Philanthropists in 2005, and Robert received an honorary Doctor of Engineering from Purdue in 2007.

KEITH A. JOHNSON, CLASS OF 1963, SIGMA ALPHA EPSILON
Keith A. Johnson earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue and an MBA from Stanford University. After graduating with distinction from the U.S. Navy’s Officer Candidate School, he served aboard a destroyer in Yokosuka, Japan, including 18 months during the Vietnam conflict. Keith became CEO and later Vice Chairman of Fieldstone Communities, Inc., where he led the company to receive the Arthur Andersen “Best Practices” Award for Strategic Leadership. His leadership inspired the creation of the Fieldstone Leadership Network, which has since graduated more than 1,150 nonprofit executives. He currently serves on its board. Keith has also served on the boards of The Nature Conservancy of California, the San Diego Museum of Art, the University of San Diego, and Ducks Unlimited, where he received the Distinguished Service Award. A recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, he and his family founded the Johnson Family Foundation, supporting education, conservation, and Christian ministries.

Donald “Don” Knebel earned a degree in electrical engineering from Purdue, graduating with highest distinction, and a law degree magna cm laude from Harvard. He spent 39 years as an intellectual property litigator at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he now serves as counsel, and was named in The Best Lawyers in America® since its first edition in 1983. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Don has also taught since 2011 as an Adjunct Professor at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he was honored as Adjunct Professor of the Year in 2024. Deeply committed to civic service, he has served on numerous boards, including the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre, Triangle Education Foundation, and United Way of Central Indiana. His many honors include Purdue’s Outstanding Electrical Engineer Award, Triangle’s Cap Henning Altruism Award, and the Indiana Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Philanthropist of the Year.

ROBERT FORNEY, CLASS OF 1950, PHI KAPPA SIGMA
Dr. Robert Clyde Forney was a visionary chemical engineer, executive, and leader whose career and character exemplified excellence and service. After earning his BS, MS, and PhD from Purdue University, he joined E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Company, where his technical expertise and leadership propelled him through key roles in polymer development—most notably Dacron polyester fiber—and eventually to the executive committee overseeing the company’s global strategy. Elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 1989, Forney contributed to numerous national studies, including the redesign of NASA’s Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster, earning both the NASA Public Service Award and the “Silver Snoopy” for his impact on astronaut safety. A devoted Purdue alumnus, he served on the Purdue Research Foundation, cochaired the Class of 1947 Scholarship Fund, and was honored with the Distinguished Engineering Alumnus Award and an honorary doctorate. Purdue’s Chemical Engineering Building proudly bears his name.
