Purdue Galleries offer a variety of art forms, events, and exhibits throughout the year. The Robert L. Please visit purdue.edu/galleries for more information.

Exhibitions of visual art and programming to enhance the educational mission of Purdue University and serve as a cultural resource for Greater Lafayette and the state of Indiana. Ringel Gallery, in Stewart Center, is an interdisciplinary visual arts space and features artwork from renowned national and international artists as well as the Galleries permanent collection. These exhibits rotate every four to eight weeks through the academic year. Ringel Gallery is open Monday - Saturday, 10AM-7PM (closed for summer, exhibition changeovers, and university holidays unless otherwise noted). The Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries, in Pao Hall, are a dedicated space for the faculty, students, and staff of the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance. Rueff Galleries are open Monday - Friday, 10AM-7PM (closed for summer, exhibition changeovers, and university holidays). Purdue Galleries' permanent collections include over 6,000 works of art and provide a lasting cultural resource for both the Purdue community and the Lafayette-West Lafayette region. Just a few days left to catch these exhibitions!

This is your final week to experience our current exhibitions in Rueff Galleries before they close this Friday, October 23rd.

In Rueff Galleries East, explore “Wunderkrammer II”, an incredible student-curated collection featuring hypothetical exhibitions built from Purdue’s permanent collection by our Introduction to Curatorial Practices students.

Meanwhile, in Rueff Galleries West, you can check out the innovative “Frogman’s Print Workshop Portfolio” exhibition, showcasing master printmaking collaborations and techniques. Grab a friend between classes and stop by Pao Hall this week to see them before they wrap up!

Rueff Galleries is open Monday through Friday, 10 AM - 7PM, but will close at 5PM this Friday.

Beginning in Fall 2026, the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance and the Purdue Libraries and School of Information Studies are introducing an undergraduate minor in Museum and Archives Studies, developed by Purdue University Archives and Special Collections and Purdue Galleries.

This new interdisciplinary program gives students a hands-on look into how cultural institutions preserve, study, and share history. Through a dynamic blend of coursework and real-world experiences, including immersive study abroad opportunities and practical projects with Purdue Archives and Special Collections, students build strong foundations in curatorial methods, collection management, research, and community engagement.

Available to undergraduates from every academic discipline with no prerequisites needed, the minor prepares students for graduate programs or careers across museums, archives, libraries, and cultural heritage organizations.

Expanding the Reach of Art: Purdue’s Degas Collection Transitioning Across West Lafayette and Indianapolis Campuses

Purdue University’s College of Liberal Arts and Purdue Galleries are advancing the reach of higher education arts programming by embedding works from the Edgar Degas collection into high-traffic academic and community spaces across West Lafayette and Indianapolis campuses.

Originally housed in the Purdue Memorial Union, the collection was designed from its inception with modular display cases and adaptive lighting to support future relocation. This deliberate transition aligns with broader strategic programs—including the Art of Attention Learning Community and the Academy for Creative Endeavors—by encouraging students to cultivate focus, reflection, and critical thinking within their daily environments.

“The liberal arts are at their most powerful when they are woven into the fabric of university life,” shared Chris Yeomans, the Justin S. Morrill Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. “This transition allows us to take what was happening in the Degas Gallery and amplify it.”

Implementation Timeline:

October 9, 2026: Degas Gallery in the Purdue Memorial Union officially closes to begin relocation preparations.

December 2026: Announcement of new campuswide placement locations at Purdue West Lafayette and Purdue Indianapolis, along with the release of an interactive collection map.

Spring 2027: Official unveiling across both campuses.

Esteban Agosin's exhibition, "CHAMANCHACA", has been postponed. In its place, we are pleased to present a special selection of works from Frogman's Print Workshops.

This curated selection celebrates the rich tradition and innovative techniques of printmaking, showcasing a dynamic assortment of prints from artists across the discipline. We invite students, faculty, and community members to visit Rueff Galleries East and experience these compelling works firsthand.

Yesterday we cleaned up real nice 💅 We spent the day learning conservation techniques for 19th century sheet music and horse harnesses, then polished up and headed to see Don Giovanni at the same theatre it premiered in 1797. Bonus activity of being interviewed for Czech National Radio

After days of spiraling (staircases) and many ups and downs (also staircases), we have toured castles, cathedrals, and palaces ranging from the 10th-19th centuries and learned from so many experts along the way!
