It was a busy week at the NC-AAAE Conference last week! Dr. LaRose traveled to the University of Illinois, representing Purdue Agricultural Education. There she met with other agricultural teacher educators and researchers from across the North Central region, and presented research. Mariah Schaeper, who recently graduated from Purdue ASEC with her Master’s Degree working with Dr. LaRose, was also in attendance to present a portion of her thesis findings. Dr. LaRose also was invited to serve on a panel discussion of faculty and associate deans from across the region to discuss enrollment metrics. Dr. Radhakrishna shared results of research on the MI-BAT program’s evaluation alongside his graduate student, Hema Lingireddy. To cap off a busy week, Dr. LaRose was recognized by her peers with the region’s Outstanding Teacher Award. We look forward to next year’s conference hosted by University of Nebraska-Lincoln!

When you join a profession like Agricultural Education you are part of a network of educators and supporters who work to help you succeed. Check out this article from National FFA about the work Mr. Duane Huge has done in setting up the Mentoring Indiana Beginning Ag Teachers (MI-BAT) program. Mr. Huge is a Purdue Ag Ed alum, and was recognized as a Purdue Agriculture Distinguished Alumni last year. Now, he helps ensure new Ag teachers across Indiana get connected to mentors who help ease the transition into becoming a classroom educator.

Great teachers build great teachers. 💙 After 38 years as an agriculture educator, Duane Huge is continuing to shape the future of ag education through Indiana’s MI-BAT mentorship program. 🌱
