For the first time in the U.S., a roadway wirelessly charged an electric heavy-duty truck driving at highway speeds — demonstrating a key technology that could help lower the costs of building electrified highways for all electric vehicles to use. This breakthrough has come through a collaborative research effort spearheaded by Purdue University, National Science Foundation (NSF), Foundation, Cummins Inc, and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT).

We are thrilled to congratulate Jennifer Hyman (BSCE ’10, MSCE ’11) on being named one of the 38 by 38 Award recipients.

Since 1874, Purdue Engineering has built a legacy of graduates whose achievements have made a lasting impact on the world.

In 2024, that legacy inspired the launch of the 38 by 38 Award, honoring 38 exceptional alumni who, by age 38, have demonstrated remarkable achievement, rapid professional growth, and meaningful impact in their fields.

The number carries special significance. Purdue University alumnus Neil Armstrong was 38 when he became the first person to walk on the moon, embodying the courage, ambition, and determination to take a giant leap into the unknown.

The 38 by 38 honorees carry that same spirit forward, building on Purdue Engineering’s legacy while shaping what comes next.
