It’s the first of June, and we are ready to, “Feed the Movement!”

This week, we are Wearing Pink, Spending Green, and Buying Black by intentional spending with Black-owned restaurants, cafes, bakeries, food trucks, and beverage brands.

Our collective goal is $8 million this month, and it starts with just $19.08. That’s one delicious meal, one specialty coffee, or one sweet treat. Let’s help “Build Our Economic Wealth,” one bite (or sip!) at a time.

Tag your favorite food or drink business below, and let’s celebrate together!🩷💚🖤

In 1983, eighteen visionary women in West Monroe, Louisiana dared to dream.

Known as 'The Jubilee Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, they gathered with one purpose, to serve their community. The Omicron Iota Omega Chapter was chartered on June 2, 1984.

Forty-two years later, that dream lives on, rooted in sisterhood, committed to scholarship, driven by service to all mankind, and stronger than ever.

Omicron Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Incorporated was born out of a dream that was carefully developed into a plan of action. A group of Sorors who envisioned possibilities for enhancing their community through service met to formulate plans for organizing an interest group to be known as “The Jubilee Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.”

There were eighteen members of the interest group. On Tuesday, January 11, 1983, the first meeting was held at Westside Developmental Center, West Monroe, Louisiana. Omicron Iota Omega Chapter was chartered on June 2, 1984. Prior to the time of chartering, “The Jubilee Ladies” experienced a sorrow when Etta Davis Davenport became an “Ivy Beyond the Wall.” But, the remaining seventeen sorors forged ahead with much determination to become a substantial chapter.

Today, Omicron Iota Omega Chapter stands as a testament to the vision, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of those original seventeen Sorors who refused to let the dream die. Their legacy of service and sisterhood continues to shine brightly in the West Monroe community and beyond.
