Stony Brook Nutrition The Dietetic Internship Program at Stony Brook is sponsored by the Renaissance School of Medicine. The program has onsite and distance tracks.

Stony Brook Medicine offers medical nutrition therapy, a Dietetic Internship program (onsite and distance), an online MS in Nutrition, WIC services, Target Fitness and a Rooftop Farm. The Stony Brook University Dietetic Internship Program has an emphasis in clinical nutrition therapy. The Internship is 1215 hours in length. Rotations, orientation and seminars start in July for the distance track and early September for the onsite track. The Nutrition Division also offers a 36 credit fully online MS in Nutrition degree with an emphasis in clinical nutrition. Stony Brook University also offers a fully-online 15 credit Advanced Certificate in Nutrition for health care professionals. Our newest class of Stony Brook Dietetic Interns has officially completed orientation and is ready to take the next step in their journey! 🎉

Next week, they begin their rotations and put their knowledge into practice as they work toward becoming Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs). We’re so excited to watch them learn, grow, and thrive throughout this year! 💙🌿

Thank you to all of the student participants in the “Grow With Us” program! We have completed our final week, and have loved seeing all of the gardens grown throughout the summer 🌻. It is a fulfilling process to grow your own food! We hope this series has inspired you to start your own garden, and enjoy the fruits of your labor💪👩‍🌾

We’re celebrating the 9th year of our one of a kind rooftop farm-to-table kids’ cooking camp! Each day the children harvested vegetables and herbs from the Stony Brook Heights Rooftop Farm, as ingredients for farm fresh cooking recipes. The children practiced reading recipes, measuring ingredients, and using cookware/utensils to create delicious, organic healthy recipes! Some of the recipes included: zucchini noodles, pesto, ratatouille, and chocolate zucchini muffins— with veggies and herbs they handpicked from our farm.

Research shows that kids who are involved in harvesting and cooking their meals, get a head-start in choosing healthier eating habits. 🥒🍅🥗
