We asked students to answer a few questions about their journey to OT, their time at DMU, and any advice they have for incoming students. Meet Paige Richard, third-year OTD student:

Q: Do you have any advice for incoming students?
A: Be kind to yourself and don’t compare yourself to others! OT school is tough but so incredibly rewarding, so excited for you to begin your journey!!

Q: Proudest moment as an OT student?
A: Completing my first session in my pediatrics fieldwork rotation!! It was amazing to apply all the things I’ve learned in courses with hands on experience in the clinic.

What a special evening celebrating excellence in our OTD program! 🎉

We were proud to recognize students for outstanding achievement in leadership, service, advocacy, research, innovation, and clinical skills.

We also honored an incredible fieldwork educator, capstone mentor, and community partners whose mentorship and support make these experiences possible. Thank you for investing in our students and helping shape the future of occupational therapy. We couldn’t do this work without you!

Our OT students are out in the community and making an impact! 🌟

During their Level I fieldwork experiences, students are stepping beyond the classroom to provide meaningful education and occupation-based interventions across a variety of settings. From promoting independence in daily activities to supporting health and wellness, they are learning what it truly means to meet clients where they are.

We’re proud to see their growing confidence, creativity, and compassion in action—whether they’re leading group activities, adapting tasks, or finding new ways to support participation in everyday life. 💜
