Building Community Through Campus Involvement: Aidan Gomez '29

For Aidan Gomez, getting involved at Westfield State University transformed his college experience. A History Secondary Education major in the Class of 2029 and a lifelong Westfield resident, Gomez quickly found his place on campus through two organizations that have become central to his student experience: the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and the Student Government Association (SGA).

Today, the Westfield State University community came together to mark the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, honoring the lives lost, the survivors, and the heroes who answered the call.

The ceremony featured keynote remarks from Sam Lemanski, Director of Emergency Management & Risk Management and Lieutenant with South Hadley Fire District 2, who reflected on the courage, sacrifice, and service that emerged from tragedy.

A Field of 2,977 flags now stands on the campus green, with each flag representing a life lost on 9/11 and serving as a powerful reminder that every number is a person, a family, and a story. Twenty-five years later, we remember. We reflect. We honor. Never Forget.
