Our Automotive Technician students are gearing up for what’s next.

At last week’s ceremony, students received professional tool kits to support their careers in automotive technology.

Thanks to support from the Philip E. and Carole R. Ratcliffe Foundation, these tool kits help reduce financial barriers while giving students the tools, confidence, and career-ready skills to move forward.

Meet Evelyn Cabrera Hernandez, our 2026 Student Commencement Speaker!

A proud first-generation college student, Evelyn is graduating from Carroll Community College with an Associate of Science in Civil Engineering. Since beginning her Carroll journey in 2023, she has distinguished herself as a dedicated student leader, mentor, and advocate while balancing academics, work, and family responsibilities.

Evelyn has made a lasting impact across campus through her leadership as President of Voces Latinas, Student Ambassador, Student Government leader, STEM Scholars Honors Program participant, and Tri-Alpha First-Generation Honor Society member. Whether helping prospective students feel welcome, supporting fellow classmates, or elevating student voices, Evelyn has consistently embodied Carroll’s mission of building community and empowering learners.

This fall, Evelyn will transfer to Morgan State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Construction Engineering and Management. Before then, she will spend the summer conducting engineering research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), focusing on concrete durability and structural systems.

Evelyn’s story is one of perseverance, leadership, and service, and we are honored to have her represent the Class of 2026 from the Commencement stage.
