For The Good Of Kappa: Brothers Rahsaan Corbin & Brother Bret Lowery Jr. - Future-Ready Skills Workshop
Future-Ready Skills Workshop Empowers Morris County Students
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, approximately 64 students gathered at Morristown High School in Morristown, New Jersey, for NBSE Jr. Day, an annual open house that introduces students to the many benefits of participating in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE).
The event was organized by the Morris County (NJ) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, where Silhouette Angela Corbin currently serves as Vice President. As part of the program, students participated in an engaging two-part workshop titled "Future-Ready Skills: AI Literacy & Money Management for Real Life," led by members of the New Rochelle-White Plains Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Brother Rahsaan Corbin, a technology leader at Amazon Web Services (AWS), facilitated the AI Literacy workshop. Drawing from his extensive experience helping organizations implement generative AI solutions, Brother Corbin introduced students to tools such as ChatGPT and demonstrated how artificial intelligence can be used responsibly as a learning partner rather than a shortcut. Students explored smart prompting techniques, critical thinking skills, academic integrity, and the growing role of AI in future careers.
Brother Bret Lowery Jr., a successful entrepreneur and multi-unit franchise owner of Taco Bell and Dunkin', led the Financial & Budget Management workshop. Through practical examples from business ownership and everyday life, he helped students understand budgeting, saving, spending wisely, and building healthy financial habits. His message emphasized the importance of making informed financial decisions early and of developing skills that can lead to long-term financial success.
To reinforce the lessons learned, every student received a 100 Savings Day Challenge Binder, a fun and interactive tool designed to help participants save up to $5,050 by completing a structured savings challenge. The resource provided students with an immediate opportunity to put financial literacy concepts into practice.
The excitement continued throughout the program as students actively participated in discussions and answered door-prize questions for the chance to win $25 Taco Bell gift cards.
The workshop received enthusiastic praise from students, teachers, and members of The Links, Incorporated, who commended both presenters for making complex topics relatable, practical, and engaging. More importantly, students left with valuable knowledge and actionable tools to help them navigate an increasingly technology-driven and financially complex world.
Congratulations to Brothers Rahsaan Corbin and Bret Lowery Jr. for their outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to empowering the next generation through education, mentorship, and community engagement.
