Southeastern Community College alumnus Dr. Matthew Nobles has officially come full circle! After beginning his college journey at SCC, earning his doctorate from ECU and gaining experience in the classroom, the Tabor City native is back at SCC as our newest psychology instructor.

What does it take to build a stronger local workforce?

Southeastern Community College is helping Columbus County students prepare for in-demand careers through an apprenticeship program developed with Columbus County Schools, Whiteville City Schools and local employers. This college is connecting students with employers before they ever enter the job market.

A $199,100 Golden LEAF investment is supporting opportunities for students to participate in job shadowing, employer tours, internships, pre-apprenticeships and registered apprenticeships while earning college credit and industry-recognized credentials.

Students are gaining skills for careers in automotive technology, construction, manufacturing and healthcare — while building relationships with employers in their own community.
