In My Warhawk Life, Emma Aleckson — communications and sciences disorders major from Lake Villa, IL— shares how she balances academics with campus and community involvement. She serves as an intern in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department, president of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), volunteers at Barista Cafe Cats and works as an independent living assistant with the LIFE Program.

UW-Whitewater students traveled to Germany over the summer, working closely with their peers and with native Germans to complete a capstone project for a communication class. More than 25 Warhawks immersed themselves in the nation’s culture and lived a shared experience with memories to last a lifetime.

Madeleine Mitchell, an award-winning violinist from the United Kingdom, recently visited UW-Whitewater as part of a mini-residency from the Royal College of Music in London. Mitchell connected with Warhawks in Ruth Hansen’s Nonprofit Theory and Practice class and Kelby Schnepel’s orchestra class — sharing her experiences as an international performing artist and giving students the opportunity to learn from her expertise. Her visit also included a recital in Light Recital Hall.
