Elliott School of Communication

We could not be more proud of this two-time ESC alum. Ricki is the perfect example of someone who tirelessly uses her talent, skills, expertise and passion to better the community. If you’ve encountered Ricki in the real world you know this… everyone feels more empowered and supported after having met her.

We would be remiss to not mention that Ricki also gives back to the Elliott School at every single opportunity. She has been named an ESC One-to-Watch awardee, a keynote speaker at Comm Week, a Let’s Talk Comm presenter, and has guest lectured in more Elliott School classes than I can count.

This is the kind of Shocker who exemplifies everything Wichita State strives to be. thank you for making our university and city a better place, Dr. Ricki Ellison.

What a great group — thanks for joining us today!

Today, a group of journalism students attended the annual Kansas Scholastics Press Association journalism conference at WSU! Students had the opportunity to sit in on sessions about photography, graphic design, podcasting, and other journalism-related content.

It’s a packed house for our first Let’s Talk Comm of the semester. We have Elliott School alumni Melanie Rivera-Cortez with KSN, Lindsay Smith and Allison Campbell with The Wichita Eagle and Shelby Kellerman with Wichita Business Journal fielding questions about working in journalism.

We're looking forward to "Women in Journalism" Let's Talk Comm discussion panel comprised of four Elliott School alumni. Each of them is a working journalist in Wichita for various news organizations. They will share stories from their time in news, reflect on what they learned in the Elliott School, and take audience questions.

A HUGE shout-out to Chief Braden Moore of the Kechi Police Department for being a guest speaker in today’s Social Media Management class. It’s not every day that a speaker drops social media wisdom and full-sized candy bars like confetti. Talk about knowing your audience!

Thanks, Chief Moore, for sharing your time, experience, insights, and for setting the guest speaker snack bar ridiculously high.
