In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, meet alumna Sunny Overholt, ’14.

When asked how Friends University prepared her for her current role as a teacher, Sunny said, “My time at Friends helped prepare me for my role by empowering me to learn from my experiences. I learned to not be afraid to try out new ideas and new lessons, and to be flexible and curious when they flop- and sometimes they really do! I am completing my master’s through Friends this spring and in many of my classes, we have discussed how teaching has changed during this pandemic. Sometimes I am tempted to overthink it and try to solve all the problems at once, but I take a deep breath and lean into the knowledge that I gained in my education at Friends. I try something new, I reflect, I learn, and I keep moving forward.”
