Did you know that the Sedwig County Zoo in Wichita ranks 7th among US zoos and is home for 3000 individual animals of nearly 400 specied! 🦍🐒🦁🐘🦘

Each year faculty, residents, students, and other healthcare providers are brought together where they can share stories and experiences that have impacted them, allowing them to connect, share, grieve, and celebrate those moments. This year’s Story Slam brought several amazing storytellers who talked about “Second Chance”. 🫶🏻

We are so proud of our faculty and residents for representing KU Wichita Pediatrics at the annual SAHM conference 2024 in sunny San Diego last week!!

Dr. Harris served as the SAHM director of Programs for the year 2024. Dr. Hopper presented a workshop on “Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Micro Skills for Primary Care Providers and Settings: A SAHM Mental Health Committee Workshop”.

Our residents that are currently on electives or clinic spent their afternoon today in Topeka, KS for the annual Kansas AAP’s Advocacy Day. This annual event allows state-wide pediatricians, pediatric specialists, and pediatric residents to meet with our legislators to discuss topics relating to caring for the children in Kansas. Including meeting our current governor !

Last weekend, the Society of Critical Care Medicine hosted their 2024 Critical Care Congress meeting in Phoenix, Arizona featuring the achievements and innovations made in the treatment of critically ill and injured patients. We are so proud of the work of Dr. Julia Kononowicz, Dr. Aimée Daccache (PGY-2), and Dr. Nisha Agasthya that was presented at the annual meeting! Their work focuses on invasive Group A Strep infections and their effects on our pediatric patients. Congratulations on your accomplishments! 💙

A huge congratulations to Dr. Aimée Daccache PGY-2, Dr. Connor Baus PGY-4, and Dr. Craig Webb (pediatric/newborn Hospitalist) for their teaching awards they received at A Grand Affair 2024 (or informally known as med school prom)! These awards are incredibly special as they are voted on by our KU School of Medicine medical students each year. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication to teaching our future doctors! 💙
