Way to go, Kiara!

Wichita East High School Students Against Prejudice, led by Wichita State School of Education alum and English teacher Kiara Suarez-Sosa, joined our CI 436E class this afternoon to share stories of when their identities were affirmed or disparaged in school. They shared honestly and offered advice for future English teachers to create inclusive and equitable spaces in their classrooms and curriculums. Thank you, East High Students Against Prejudice!! This past July, WSU English lecturer Robinson Ensz visited the Stuart A. Rose Library at Emory University to research different editions of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Swipe to see what Robin encountered in a rare first edition of the famous novel: Stoker's inscription to his friend Hall Caine. The inscription is particularly neat because Stoker dedicated the novel to Caine under the childhood nickname "Hommy-Beg." And where did Stoker sign this volume? Right by that very dedication. 🧛‍♂️
