JayDoc Community Clinic is making an impact both in the community and in research!

Through their work providing care to underserved patients in our community, JayDoc students are also contributing to research that helps advance knowledge and improve care for the populations they serve. Their recent participation in the annual Society of Student-Run Free Clinics meeting, where they presented their research, highlights this important part of their mission.

A special shout-out to Dulcinea Rakestraw, PhD, JayDoc’s research advisor, for mentoring students, developing their research skills, and encouraging them to explore how research can inform and strengthen patient care.

Thank you to Wilson Medical Center and Neodesha Family Medicine for welcoming KU School of Medicine-Wichita students for their family medicine clerkships and helping prepare the next generation of physicians!

Wilson Medical Center is pleased to welcome Noah Schnieders, a third-year medical student at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, who has joined Neodesha Family Medicine for his family medicine clerkship.

Originally from Overland Park, Noah earned his undergraduate degree in human biology from KU before beginning medical school in Kansas City. While he plans to pursue a career in physical medicine and rehabilitation, his time in Neodesha offers a valuable opportunity to experience the meaningful relationships, hands-on learning and community connections that make rural healthcare special.

Working alongside Dr. McKellar and Dr. Barrett, Noah looks forward to learning from the dedicated professionals who make Wilson Medical Center a trusted resource for families throughout Southeast Kansas.

“Each student who spends time with us brings new energy and a fresh perspective,” said Adam Gall, Chief Operations Officer. “It’s rewarding to share the unique advantages of practicing medicine in a close-knit community like Neodesha.”

We’re proud to see our faculty physicians contributing to innovative research that advances care for older adults and those living with dementia.

A collaboration between Kansas Christian Home and University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita was recognized with a 2026 Wichita Business Journal Innovation Award for its work advancing long-term care research.

Donna Flemming, MD, DBe, MTS, MA, FAAFP, CMD served as faculty mentor for medical student researcher Kayla Shaw, whose study examined dementia diagnoses and psychotropic medication use among 54 Kansas Christian Home residents. Tessa Rohrberg, MD, FAAFP also contributed to the project, which found no correlation between more severe dementia and higher use of psychotropic medications, suggesting staff are successfully using non-pharmacologic approaches to support residents.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Aaron Holt to the McPherson Center for Health family! Dr. Holt is looking forward to serving patients and families in our community beginning this September.

A graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita, Dr. Holt completed his Family Medicine residency at Wesley Medical Center. He chose family medicine because of the opportunity to care for patients through every stage of life, from newborns to older adults.

Dr. Holt has a special interest in obstetrical and newborn care and considers it a privilege to walk alongside mothers throughout pregnancy and welcome new babies into the world. He also has interests in endoscopy and comprehensive family medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Holt enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young children. As a family, they love being outdoors, exploring new places, trying new foods and making memories with friends and family.

We’re so excited to have the Holt family in McPherson and can’t wait for you to get to know Dr. Holt! Please join us in giving them a warm McPherson welcome!
