Membership Monday!
Introducing 2022 Latino Leader, Marina Roman! Marina is a junior at Friends University majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Spanish. Marina is from Eastvale, California and graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School. Apart from being in the Latino Leadership Program, Marina is also an outfielder for the Friends University softball team, a student trainer for the football team and works for intramurals on campus! Her favorite college memory thus far has been meeting some of her best friends at the Latino Leadership orientation her freshman year. Marina would like to go on to have a career as an elementary school teacher and hopes to coach softball with her dad as well.
A fun fact about Marina is that she can play 5 different instruments; the saxophone, guitar, ukulele, clarinet and piano! Marina is a kind and sweet soul, we are lucky to have her in our familia!

Introducing 2024 Latino Leader, Aaron Madrigal! Aaron is a freshman at Friends University majoring in health science. Aaron is from Augusta, Kansas and graduated from Campus High School. Apart from being in the Latino Leadership Program, Aaron is also a pitcher for the Friends University baseball team. His favorite college memory thus far is when the baseball team dressed up for their Halloween game. Aaron aspires to get his doctorate in nurse anesthesia and become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. In his free time he enjoys playing disc golf, hunting and working out. Aaron is a dedicated student with a determined personality. We are lucky to have him in our familia!

Introducing 2021 Latino Leader, Anthony Torres! Anthony is a senior at Friends University majoring in marketing and business administration. Anthony is a Wichita native who graduated from Northeast High School. His favorite memory from being in the Latino Leadership program is when a surprise birthday cake was given to him at our annual friendsgiving event. He is involved in BPA and AMA, Friends business clubs as well as the HALO program. Anthony aspires to work in the sports industry in a marketing or business position. For fun he loves to play sports whether it’s soccer, volleyball or pickleball! Anthony has shown great leadership, is a friend to all and is someone you can always count on. You can oftentimes can catch him giving tours on campus or on the Friends University billboard. We are lucky to have him in our familia!

As the semester wraps up, we are most thankful to our community and fellow peers that came together this last year to serve, lead and give back to our local community. Here is a throwback photo of Latino Leadership Rep/ Spanish Club President Pilar Flores and Sigma Delta Pi President Courtney Osterhout, delivering donations collected at our annual Friendsgiving party to the Kansas Humane Society!

We wanted to thank the Friends University Sigma Delta Pi Honor Society, Latino Leadership, and Spanish Club ❤️ They threw a donation party and brought over a cart load of donations today for our local shelter animals 🥹 We can’t thank them enough and we’re feeling so grateful to be the beneficiary 🙌🏽 Donations help ensure our funding goes back to helping pets get their spay/neuter surgeries, microchips, vaccines, medications, etc. 🐾 We love it whenever our community comes together to help the pets in our care!

This past Sunday, members of Latino Leaders, Spanish Club, and Sigma Delta Pi came together for a service project at Iglesia Evangélica Amigos. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community and serve alongside such amazing people!
