It's National Pi Day today! And what better time to announce the 'winner' of the Singing Quakers' "Who's Getting Pied" fundraiser...get it? 😉🥧
Dr. Rayvon T.J. Moore received the most donations...sorry Doc...but at least it tasted good!
Thank you everyone who donated - the funds will go towards the cost of the next Singing Quakers international tour.
But whether you prefer the math kind of pi, or the tasty kind of pie, treat yourself today!
Don't miss the last performance of Erik Satie's Vexations from the bell tower at Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum ! Today from 1 p.m. you will be able to hear this engigmatic piece of music ringing out across downtown Wichita!
Please send us your videos if you're close enough to hear it!
Until then, enjoy this behind-the-scenes clip of Dr. James Knight playing the carillon, the instrument that controls the bells, recorded the other week.
Here's a clip of Dr. James Knight playing Erik Satie's "Vexations" on the carillon at Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum!
The carillon is a keyboard instrument that is connected to the bells in the museum's tower. Friends University Fine Arts have been granted special access to this marvellous piece of equipment as we count down the Saturdays to "Satieday", May 18!
Be sure to catch this amazing rendition of Satie's most eccentric piece of music from 1-1:15 p.m. every Saturday ringing out across the city!
Think you can play this piece of music? We are looking for pianists to take part our epic rendition of "Vexations" on May 18! You must be able to play for at least fifteen minutes at a time. Students, teachers, hobbyists and professionals are all welcome! Locations include CityArts, Mark Arts, Sedgwick County Zoo, Exploration Place and Wichita Art Museum!

Yesterday was Walkout!
This Friends University tradition is in celebration of an athletic conference championship, where students take to the halls outside the president’s office with a resounding clatter, asking the president to walk out of classes to celebrate the team’s achievements.
And this year, for the very first time, Fine Arts acomplishments at national level were also recognized for Walkout! 🎉 Our very own Rolaine Hetherington was there to share the details of our vocal student's acomplishments at NATS.
Congratulations everyone!
