Central State University has received $100,000 in support for its Gap Scholarship program from the Charles E. Schell Foundation for Education, Fifth Third Bank, N.A., Trustee, strengthening the University’s efforts to help students overcome financial barriers that could otherwise interrupt their education.

The funding will provide critical financial assistance to eligible students experiencing gaps between their available financial resources and the cost of completing their education. By helping address unmet financial need, the Gap Scholarship supports Central State’s commitment to student persistence, retention and degree completion.

Homecoming 2026 was a powerful reminder of how blessed we are to be part of the Central State University family. The pride, traditions, and lifelong connections that unite generations of Centralians are what make our University so special.

From Wednesday’s Gospel concert to Saturday’s Maroon and Gold Banquet, our campus was filled with, fellowship, and Marauder pride. It was wonderful to welcome alumni and their families and friends home, celebrate alongside our students, and recognize the faculty and staff who make Central State such a special place.

Congratulations to the Marauder football team on Saturday’s victory!
We are deeply grateful to the many alumni and friends who demonstrated their continued commitment to Central State through generous gifts and pledges in support of our students and University. Your generosity and investment in our future make a meaningful difference.

My sincere appreciation goes to the Homecoming Committee, Institutional Advancement team, faculty, staff, volunteers, and everyone who worked tirelessly to make this year’s celebration a success.

Our Homecoming Giving Challenge standings are shifting, and every gift has the power to change the leaderboard. Whether you’re repping your favorite decade, Greek organization, athletic team or alumni chapter, there’s still time to make your mark.

Decades: The 1980s are holding down first place, followed by the 1960s, with the 1970s coming in hot!

Class years: The Class of 1966 leads the pack, with 1982 in second and 1968 in third. Is your class ready to make a move?

Greek organizations: The ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are running the yard in first place, with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. close behind. The men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. are currently tied in third!

Alumni chapters: Columbus, Ohio, is claiming the top spot, Dayton is close behind, and Cleveland is making its presence known in third. Which city will take the lead next?

Athletics: Track and Field is setting the pace, followed by Men’s Basketball and Cheerleading. Marauders, show up for your sport!

As Central State University prepares to crown its next Mister and Miss Central State during this year’s Homecoming celebration, we’re taking a look at how the incoming Royal Court spent the summer — and how those experiences are shaping the legacy they hope to build during their reign.

Mister Central State Nasaan Jackson and Miss Central State Asia Brown returned to Central State University with a collection of honors and a renewed sense of purpose after representing the university at the 24th Annual HBCU Kings & Queens Conference, held July 16-19 in New Orleans.

The four-day conference brought together more than 400 student leaders representing 57 historically Black colleges and universities from across the United States for leadership development, networking, professional growth and celebration.

For Central State, the trip marked a milestone. Jackson and Brown became the first Central State Royal Court to earn awards at the conference, receiving the Perseverance Award, Best King Photo Award and the King’s Suite Dreams Crown. They also placed third in the Suite Dreams fundraiser and received nominations for Most Impressive Onsite Intro and Best Advisor of the Year, recognizing their adviser, Talisa Boswell, director of Marauder Leadership and Engagement.
