This position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing recreational and athletic programs, recreational facilities and parks, and community events for the City. Duties include managing both full and part-time staff (including seasonal employees) in the City’s recreation facilities.

Minimum completion of a four-year degree in recreation management, exercise physiology, or related field and considerable experience of an increasingly responsible nature to include at least five years of supervision in organized recreation work or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The multi-craft maintenance technician will maintain and repair manufacturing equipment using knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, welding and other related maintenance skills. Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues throughout facility. Minimize downtime through completion of preventative maintenance tasks. The Wilkes County Tax Department has an opening for Tax Technician position responsible for both tax collection and property listing duties. This is a full time position with a salary of $34,594.00.

Certification as a Personal Property Appraiser must be obtained within a 2-year period. Graduation from a two-year college and 1–3 years of experience in accounting, banking, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required. Considerable customer service experience is required; experience in tax assessment is desirable.
