Congratulations to Summer Walter, Band and Choir Director at Whitley County Middle and High School for being named Middle School Teacher of the Year by fellow directors of District 10.

She tirelessly advocates for both Band and Choir, putting in countless hours to help a growing program thrive.

As the program has continued to grow, she rallied the community to come together and support our young musicians. Her efforts helped bring awareness to the need for additional instruments, resulting in generous community members donating instruments and investing in the future of our students.

Her commitment, perseverance, and willingness to do whatever it takes for their students has not gone unnoticed.

She is a teacher who advocates, inspires, builds community, and—through music—makes a lasting difference in the lives of students.

A recent sold out performance by the Somerset Big Band included professor David Threlkeld (saxophone) performing alongside UC Music alumni Jamey Robinson (saxophone), Drew Shannon (trumpet), Jordan Yaden (vocals), and current UC student Lauren Gray (vocals).

The performance was enthusiastically received by the audience. Congratulations to all involved!
