Leading into commencement weekend, more than 317 faculty, staff, and students came together for the first Faculty and Staff Pats Serve Day in Williamsburg, Kentucky, completing 23+ service projects across the local community.

From Briar Creek Park to the Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center, volunteers stepped beyond campus to make a tangible impact throughout the tri-county region.

Through programs like Pats Serve, University of the Cumberlands connects education with action, developing leaders who serve with purpose.

Catherine Ball, professor of political science and paralegal studies, exemplifies that mission through her pro bono legal work, pre-law mentorship, and commitment to civic engagement in Kentucky and beyond. From assisting communities impacted by Hurricane Helene to supporting ministries and nonprofit organizations navigating federal and state regulations, Dr. Ball demonstrates how legal education and professional expertise can serve the common good.
