June marks LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

A raid at the Stonewall Inn in New York City sparked a riot that is marked as the most important event in the surge of the LGBTQ+ liberation movement. Pride month was established to commemorate the movement that rose out of the Stonewall riots and the subsequent move towards equality.

We wish to take this opportunity to express our celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, and reiterate our commitment to supporting our LGBTQ+ students, faculty, staff and community.

Senator for Health Sciences, Alexia Zelenevskaya, is using her platform to promote dental hygiene awareness!

Take advantage of the dental hygiene services offered by Penn College's clinic!

Alexia tells us that "The mouth is a reflection of your body‘s overall health and lack of proper dental care can lead to more than just changes in your smile. Poor dental hygiene can result in tooth decay, tooth loss and even gum disease. Studies show that once students have left the home and entered college, visits to dental office decline significantly. Maintaining good dental health is a preventive measure student should be taking to avoid the need for more intrusive and more expensive treatment down the road. Although taking the time to go to the dentist may seem daunting, with classes, extracurriculars and jobs, it is very important. The students should take advantage of the clinic we have here on campus as we provide very low-cost treatment, just $5 for a PCT student, and X-rays ranging from $2-$15, what would normally cost hundreds! We have many members of the community coming in and choosing us rather than their local dentist, many say they would never get such a thorough checkup and cleaning anywhere but here! We provide complete assessment, screenings, and prophylaxis of the pt. Care this affordable is not heard of, so why not take advantage of this while you are still a student here. Understanding how to take care of your teeth and having them regularly cleaned is an important investment student should be making in themselves. The results may not be apparent now, but down the road, after graduation, when real life starts to happen, knowing that you’ve done everything you could to keep your teeth healthy and strong will be a relief to you and your wallet, especially when those student loans kick in."
