Wildra Wynne Beacham age 84 passed away Thursday, September 3rd at ECU health Medical center- Greenville, surrounded by her loving family.

-
Born on January 22 1942 in Bear Grass to Johnie & Rebecca Wynne. She brought a lifetime of warmth, wisdom and joy to everyone that knew her.Wildra lived a life defined by love, dedication and grace. Whether she was spending time on her favorite hobbies ( bowling, cooking, shopping or watching her humming birds), sharing stories from her youth or hosting family gatherings, her home was always filled with laughter and open arms. Her gentle spirit and love of The Lord served as the foundation of her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dennis Beacham and her sister Dorothy Liles and Brother John A Wynne.

Her legacy of love lives on through her surviving family, including her children Johnny Alexander, Tony Alexander (Robin) and Lisa Hardison (Timmy) and her cherished grandchildren Troy Alexander, Cody Alexander (Lauren),Tara Clarke ( Aden) ,Lexi Hardison (Chad) and Jesse Alexander and her 9 great-grandchildren who will all miss her dearly

There will be a Visitation held at Macedonia Christian Church on Friday September 4 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Jerry W. Lee
Obituary

Jerry W. Lee, 75, died suddenly on Thursday, August 27, 2026 with his daughter and son by his side.
-
Jerry was a native and lifelong resident of Martin County. He was raised in the Bear Grass community and later moved to Williamston. He retired from Williamston Yarn Mill and spent most of his life running JL Sales, a resale business, as well as assisted his friend Rickey Mobley in managing the Roanoke Sportsman Bait and Tackle shop in Williamston.

He was affectionately nicknamed Mr. Haney, a character from the show Green Acres as he bought and sold many things. He never knew a stranger and he enjoyed helping others by assisting them with their needs and getting them to and from medical appointments. He was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman.

Services will be held on September 12th, 2026 at Wilkerson’s Funeral Home at 2100 East Fifth Street, Greenville, NC 27858.

The viewing will start at 4 pm followed by a service at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the estate. If paying by check, please make it to Jerry Lee estate.

Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Mary Lee, sisters Margaret Brown, Essie Blalock and Patricia Griffin; and brothers Lonnie Lee and Carlies Lee.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy J. Lee of Covington, Louisiana; son, Allen W. Lee and wife Elizabeth of Princeton, North Carolina; brothers, Ray Lee, Donnie Lee and wife Sheila; Roy Lee and wife Joyce; David Lee and wife Lynn; Bennett Lee; Paul Lee and wife Sheila, all of Williamston; Benjamin Lee of Plymouth; and Frank Lee and wife Charlene of Greenville; brother-in-law Victor Griffin and sisters-in-law, Faye Lee and Connie Lee.

⚠️ MARTIN COUNTY SHOULD BE PAYING ATTENTION

Sometimes what goes on in your neighbor’s house can affect you too.

Beaufort County will hold a public hearing September 14 at 5:30 PM to consider a one-year moratorium on new data center developments. With data center development also being discussed in Edgecombe County, Martin County could potentially find itself between major data center projects.
-
Large data centers can impact an entire region through:
-
💧 Water usage — potentially competing with farming, irrigation and residential needs.
-
⚡ Electric demand — requiring new substations, transmission lines and other infrastructure, with concerns about who ultimately pays.
-
🌾 Farmland — industrial development can permanently remove agricultural acreage.
-
🚛 Traffic & roads — heavy construction traffic can affect rural roads and farm equipment.

-
🔊 Noise — cooling systems, transformers and backup generators can operate 24/7.
-
🌧️ Drainage & flooding — massive buildings and paved areas can increase stormwater runoff.
-
Data centers can also bring investment and tax revenue, but the regional costs and benefits need to be understood before these projects move forward.

👉 Martin County residents AND Martin County Commissioners should consider attending this Beaufort County hearing. What happens in Beaufort County could directly affect Martin County’s water, farms, utilities and future development.
