Flashback Friday: 2010 to 2019
The 2010s marked a decade of innovation, investment, and renewed identity for SUNY Erie. In 2011, the college celebrated its first NJCAA Ice Hockey National Championship, launched the inaugural College Senate, and began a $10 million restoration project to preserve the historic City Campus building. Continued investment followed with major renovations to the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in 2012 and the opening of the One-Stop Career Training Center at North Campus in 2013.
In 2014, the college unveiled the Fallen Heroes Memorial Park, followed in 2015 by expanded student support services including the Veterans Access Center at North Campus, the Student Success Center at City Campus, and the Learning Garden at Canalside.
In 2017, SUNY Erie opened the Center for Nanotechnology Studies at North Campus and welcomed Dr. Dan Hocoy as its eleventh president. In 2018, the college officially rebranded from ECC to SUNY Erie Community College and opened the state-of-the-art STEM Building at North Campus.
The decade concluded in 2019 with SUNY Erie celebrating the first graduates from the Northland Workforce Training Center, reinforcing its commitment to workforce development and student success.
