We’re hiring two Lecturers in the English Department at UNCW!

We’re looking for someone with significant experience teaching composition who enjoys working with first-year and non-major students.

We have a strong culture of applied learning, a genuinely collegial department atmosphere, and the chance to collaborate across programs and disciplines—and being about 10 minutes from the beach is a nice bonus.

If you or someone you know might be a good fit, you can find the full description and application portal with the link in the comments.

Please feel free to share this with your networks or tag folks who might be interested.

Email Dr. Lance Cummings with any questions.

On November 20th, students from Lance Cummings ENG 498 Teamship capped off their semester with a dynamic final pitch event!

Partnering with Any Lab Test Now® Wilmington and owner Juan Vasquez, students tackled a real-world business challenge that involved strengthening marketing strategy and community awareness.

Over several weeks, they collaborated closely with Juan, refined key insights, and developed usable prototypes designed to expand the company’s professional network and local presence.

💡 What stood out most was the creativity and problem-solving combined with expertise from the classroom.

Along side design thinking training, students leveraged skills they acquired in other courses—including professional document design and workflow planning—to create brochures, marketing plans, and newsletters tailored for our business partner.

📈 Together, their prototypes formed a cohesive and comprehensive marketing strategy for Any Lab Test Now, providing actionable solutions that can be readily implemented to drive business growth.

👏 A huge thank you to Juan and Any Lab Test Now for opening the door to this opportunity, and congratulations to our students for another successful pitch event.

The District C teamship with Dr. Lance Cummings has officially started! Students are digging into AI and content strategy in pharma.

Our Teamship has officially kicked off this cycle by partnering with Content Rules, Inc., a leading content transformation and strategy consultancy company.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be applying the District C methodology and design thinking process to tackle a real-world business problem presented by our partner.

We’ve already had the opportunity to meet with Leslie Farinella, President of Content Rules, to dive into the company’s mission and explore the unique problem we’ll be solving.

Her insights have laid the foundation for our next phase: uncovering key themes that will shape our creative solutions.

🔍 What’s ahead? Ideation, innovation, and ultimately, a final Pitch Event where we’ll present our solutions directly to Content Rules.

This collaboration with Content Rules will offer firsthand exposure to critical topics like AI integration, content strategy, and usability by showing us how they come into play for a successful company with a global reach.
