Congratulations to the following Spirit of Shenandoah Award winners, who were selected through a student vote leading up to Homecoming and Family Weekend.
First-Year: Gavin Cook is a political science major who plays football for the Hornets and is an intern with the Wi******er City Council. Cook loves Shenandoah because it feels like the type of place where students can develop into passionate and professional individuals no matter what they study.
Sophomore: Emanuel McFarlane, affectionately known as “E-man,” is a criminology major. He serves as the Student Government Association’s chief of staff, is a member of Sigma Nu, works as an alumni and advancement ambassador, and is a member of the Campus Activities Network. McFarlane loves SU because it’s a place where he has been able to meet amazing people and grow both as a person and student.
Junior: Luke Rowan is an exercise science major known across campus for his many roles. In addition to working as a student assistant for the Division of External Affairs, Rowan is a Hornet Ambassador, member of the Campus Activities Network, head Welcome Week leader, a resident assistant, and an intramural sports referee. He is also part of the inaugural SU a ca****la cohort and balances his volunteer work as a mentor at Bass Hoover Elementary School.
Senior: Kayleigh Grant DeVine is a double major in biology and psychology. She loves Shenandoah because she knows that no matter what, there is always someone in your corner to cheer for you. She works for the Campus Activities Network, is a Hornet Ambassador, and volunteers at the local library. This summer, she also served as a Welcome Week leader and orientation leader, through which she welcomed new Hornets to campus and shared her love for SU.
