Students enrolled in Dr. Clevenger’s Opioid Stewardship course recently participated in an outreach day with students in Hendersonville!

This was a great opportunity for our WUSOP students to take their learning beyond the classroom, connect with others, and share the importance of opioid safety and stewardship.

P2 Skills Lab 🩺💊

Our P2s had a great hands-on learning experience! They practiced performing monofilament foot exams, reviewed proper blood pressure measurement techniques, and learned how to use and counsel on diabetes medications.
They also reviewed and practiced aseptic technique during lab, strengthening skills they’ll use throughout their pharmacy education and future practice!

P3 Zone Fair was a huge success! Our students had the opportunity to network with a variety of pharmacies and specialties from across Charlotte and beyond. 💊✨

Zone Fair gives our P3s valuable exposure to the many different areas they can explore and select for their P4 APPE year. From Scholars Program opportunities to industry, retail, and specialty pharmacy, there were so many paths for our students to discover and consider!

As part of our Opioid Stewardship outreach project, students Abbie Huneycutt and Kolby Hatley joined Dr. Clevenger at an NC MedAssist Mobile Day in Albemarle.
They spent the day counseling patients on safe OTC medication use and providing education and resources on naloxone. Proud to see our students making a difference through community outreach and patient education!

Last week, our P2 class got hands-on experience with sterile compounding, led by Dr. Clevenger and Dr. Marino!

Students learned the importance of proper gowning techniques, airflow hood cleaning, and maintaining aseptic technique to ensure safe and effective sterile preparations.

A great opportunity to put our knowledge into practice and build essential skills for the future of pharmacy!
