Winona State University Memorial Pool

Winona State University Memorial Pool Winona State University Main Campus Pool hosts a variety of activities including group lessons, open swim, and lap swim.

The Winona State Intramural & Recreational Sports Department offers group and individual swim lessons at the Memorial Hall pool. Classes are taught by WSU students who are certified Lifeguards possessing Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. Classes are available for a variety of ages and skill levels. Four sessions are offered per academic year. Each session runs two days per week for four

weeks.Public locker rooms and showers are available for use. Group Swim Lessons - Cost: $40/child

ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Winona State University pool will be closed until further notice due to mechanical challenges. At this time, the facility will be mothballed for the foreseeable future.

We sincerely thank everyone who has been part of the WSU pool community over the years. This includes our students, faculty, and staff, as well as our dedicated lifeguards, swim instructors, parents, and the many children who participated in swim lessons.

Your involvement and support have been greatly appreciated, and we wish you all the very best moving forward.

Registration is now open for the Spring 2026 Session 2 group swimming lessons for tots and levels 1-6! Please read this email carefully for instructions, and email me with questions/concerns. When emailing questions please start a new email thread to ensure I see it.

The second session runs from March 23 to April 16. Lessons are held on Monday/Wednesday nights and Tuesday/Thursday nights at the WSU Main Campus pool in Memorial Hall. The cost is $60/participant.

The time slots are as follows:
Tots – Potty Trained Children 2 + Mon/Wed and Tues/Thurs (30 minute time slots)
5-5:30
5:35-6:05
6:10-6:40
6:45-7:15

Levels 1-6 Mon/Wed and Tues/Thurs (40 minute time slots)
5-5:40
5:50-6:30
6:40-7:20

Please take time to read the following notes:

*Note: You will receive a confirmation email that your child has been registered for lessons shortly after the registration deadline. Please do not email me for confirmation before this time.

*Note: You may not enroll your child in tots unless he/she is at least 2 years old and is potty trained. There are no other age requirements at this time. However, we strongly encourage participants 5 and older to begin in level 1 rather than in tots.

*Note: You are asked to fill out a 2nd preference for time slots, we will not enroll your child in swimming lessons if you do not fill out TWO DIFFERENT time slot preferences. If there is only one time that works for you, please say so in the “Additional Information” section.

*Note: If you register your child for a class that has 2 or less participants by the registration deadline, you will be asked to change time slots. Our policy is as follows: Classes will not be held unless there are 3 or more participants registered. Please be flexible and understanding if you are asked to switch.

Here are some reminders and updates about the second session of swimming lessons for this spring.

Registration opens Friday, March 13 at 8 am and will close Friday, March 20 at midnight.
Confirmation Emails will be sent out on Saturday, March 21.
Lessons will run from March 23 to April 16.
The registration link will be sent to our email list, as well as posted on our page.

Also, an update for anyone who was not at lessons during the last week of the first session:
Unfortunately, due to administrative decisions, the Winona State University Memorial Pool will be closing after the end of the Spring 2026 Semester. Because of this, this will be our last session of swimming lessons at the WSU pool.

Due to a scheduling error with a Winona State Homecoming activity, we have to cancel tomorrow's lesson for the Tuesday and Thursday group. Their first day of lessons will now be Thursday the 23. We will make up this lesson on November 20th. The Tuesday/Thursday group will now have lessons both the 18th and the 20th of that week, but the Monday/Wednesday Group will still end of the 12 as previously scheduled.
