Save the date! The 3rd Annual Birdies for Bayer Golf Tournament is set to take place on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Tanglewood Golf Club. There’s no better way to kick off Homecoming Weekend than to celebrate our brother Jordan amongst family and friends. Although we each cherish his memory in unique ways, this event allows us to show our admiration as a community.

Since 2016, $80,000 has been raised for the Jordan Bayer Memorial Scholarship. This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering commitment of so many families, friends, and alumni. Over the coming months, we have an opportunity to reach the $100,000 mark and solidify the scholarship as an endowed fund at Wake Forest. Our collective effort and participation in this year’s Birdies for Bayer Golf Tournament will help preserve Jordan’s legacy for years to come.

On Saturday March 24th, 23 current DKEs will be participating in the Wake N Shake Dance Marathon benefiting the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund. Due to our current situation we have to participate as the WFU Real Estate Club. We have already raised over $8,500, which is more than any other fraternity. If you are interested in supporting our team and this great cause you can donate here:

This summer's DEKE Quarterly includes a great piece on the Jordan Bayer Memorial Scholarship and the efforts of the chapter to grow the fund in this year's golf tournament. Many thanks to all that have helped the cause so far, especially the Bayer family for their love and dedication.

Brothers,

This past Wednesday, some of our more artistic members participated in Discovering Education through Student Knowledge (DESK), an annual community service project with the goal to provide desks and school supplies for children in the Winston-Salem community. This year, we had the pleasure of meeting young Jaydin, for whom we decorated a custom desk. Per his request, it was adorned with a volcano, soccer balls, and what he described to be a "spider lion". We hope Jaydin and the rest of his family enjoy our addition to their home!

Hello Everyone,

I would like to take a moment to give everyone a quick update on the Birdies for Bayer Golf Tournament that DKE is hosting in late October. The deadline for sponsorship registration is this upcoming Monday, September 19th. We still have some great sponsorship opportunities available and all the support we can get is greatly appreciated. There is still time before the October 17th deadline to register to play in the tournament, but please know that there is a limit on the amount of people that can sign up, so be sure to register soon! As we move forward, we’ll be looking to gather items for the silent auction that will be held at the 19th hole reception, so please reach out to me or Grant Wissak if you would like to contribute. We know this tournament will be a great opportunity to bring DKEs together over a wide range of graduating classes and to strengthen the bond of our brotherhood. Most importantly, this tournament will give us the chance to honor Jordan Bayer’s legacy through generosity and a commitment to helping the Wake Forest community.

Brothers and Friends,

I want to take the time to inform all of you about a meaningful effort that is currently underway for the upcoming fall semester. On October 28th (Friday of Homecoming Weekend), we will be hosting a golf tournament at Tanglewood Golf Course in Winston Salem for our late and beloved brother, Jordan Bayer. This intention of this tournament is to raise money for a scholarship that has recently been set up in his name, and we are looking to get the word out early so we can start accumulating sponsorships from companies and individuals. Over the next couple weeks, we will be sending out a detailed pamphlet that will include more information about the event itself, as well as information about the scholarship and sponsorship opportunities. We hope many of you will save the date and come down to Winston-Salem in October to participate in this great event. If anyone has any questions before or after we send out more details, feel free to contact myself or Grant Wissak.

I would also like to take a moment to recognize another brother, Geoffrey Thomas Marks, who passed away yesterday. A member of the 2012 graduating class, Geoff was cherished by his DKE brothers and all who knew him well. His loss is another reminder of how fragile life can be, as well as how important brotherhood is in times of tragedy and mourning. We hope all who knew Geoff can find strength and live life in a way that would make him proud, as we do for all of our fallen brothers.
