🩷 💚 Celebrating 100 Years of Life 🩷 💚

Today, we joyfully celebrate a remarkable milestone as our beloved Diamond Member(77 years of membership), Gloria Diggs Banks, turns 100 years young!

On Sunday, October 18th, we had the distinct honor of celebrating this momentous occasion alongside Sister Gloria's loving family and her alma mater, Winston-Salem State University, with special recognition from Chancellor Bonita J. Brown. The celebration was hosted at WSSU's Diggs Gallery, which Sister Gloria and her sisters were instrumental in establishing, and featured heartfelt remarks from Gallery Director Dianne Pleder, Council Member Annette Scippio, representing the Mayor's Office and the East Ward, and Elnora Gore, representing St. Stephens Episcopal Church. We were also delighted to celebrate alongside our undergraduate sisters of the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® at WSSU, and Sister Gloria's beloved cherished friends.

In recognition of her extraordinary life, legacy, and service, she was honored with special resolutions from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® and St. Stephens Episcopal Church, as well as a proclamation from the Mayor's Office commemorating her 100th birthday.

The outpouring of love was truly remarkable! A special campaign was launched to collect 100 birthday cards in honor of her 100th birthday, and the response exceeded all expectations, with more than 170 cards received! She was also presented with a special banner filled with heartfelt messages and well wishes. What a beautiful testament to the love and admiration so many have for this extraordinary woman!
A true trailblazer, educator, and champion for children, Sister Gloria has dedicated her life to uplifting others through her unwavering commitment to education, sisterhood, and service. Her extraordinary journey and beautiful spirit continue to inspire generations.

She is living history, a reflection of how far we've come, and an inspiration for where we are going.

Founded in 2017 by Camden Myers, who sustained a traumatic brain injury at just seven years old, Cam’s Coffee grew from a weekend pop-up coffee venture into a thriving social enterprise that helped Camden build confidence while creating opportunities for others.

Today, the disabled-owned business provides meaningful employment for individuals with disabilities and continues to expand its impact through community partnerships, including its collaboration with Kaleideum. We are honored to recognize Cam’s Coffee for its commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and creating opportunities for individuals and families with special needs.

Congratulations to Peyton Evans, recipient of the Young Leaders Institute Award! Peyton has demonstrated outstanding leadership, character, and commitment throughout her four years of participation in the President’s Youth Leadership Institute, a program designed to strengthen the leadership skills of middle school students.

Now a ninth-grade student dually enrolled at Simon G. Atkins Academic and Technology High School and the Early College Program at Forsyth Technical Community College, Peyton has distinguished herself through academic achievement and involvement in honors band, Crosby Scholars, and student government. She also demonstrates a strong commitment to service through her involvement at Goler Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, where she participates in the Youth Fellowship Council, Junior Ushers, and Youth Dance Ministry.

Peyton received this award because of her strong leadership, academic excellence, service to others, and the promise she continues to show as a rising young leader in our community.
