Class year and Major: 2025, Biology

Leadership Role: YAC Communications Chair

Current City: Winston-Salem, NC

Professional Title/Industry: Research Technician at WSSU's BRIC

Ellie Cyrus is a dedicated healthcare professional and graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where she earned her B.S., and Wake Forest University, where she earned her M.S. Why did you say yes to YAC? I said yes to YAC because I believe one of the best ways to give back to my university is through my service. I believe that the young alumni council has a great opportunity to build bridges between several classes and demographics and I wanted to be a part of that.

Ellie, we are excited about your leadership...thank you!

Meet WSSU Young Alumni Council's, Darryl “Keith” Quick Jr.!

Preferred Name: Keith Quick

Class year and Major: 2025, Business Administration/Marketing, MBA Candidate Fall 2027

Leadership Role: YAC Student-Alumni Chair

Current City: Boulder, CO

Professional Title/Industry: Impact & Strategic Engagement Coordinator, University of Colorado Boulder Athletics, McLendon Fellow, McLendon Foundation | Freelance Photographer

Keith Quick Jr., a Greensboro, North Carolina native, is a 2025 graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where he earned his degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. He currently serves as an Impact and Strategic Engagement Coordinator with the University of Colorado Boulder Athletics through the McLendon Leadership Initiative. Previously, Keith served as a Student-Athlete Development, Photography & Creative Media Graduate Assistant at WSSU while pursuing his Master of Business Administration, supporting career-readiness programming, professional development, alumni engagement, media training, and creative media initiatives. A former WSSU football captain, All-Conference student-athlete, SAAC President, and WSSU’s sole 2024 AT&T Rising Future Maker, Keith has built a strong foundation in student-athlete development, leadership, and athletics engagement.

Why did you say yes to YAC? I said yes to YAC because I am who I am today in part because of what WSSU alumni poured into me throughout my time as a student. I want to help continue that experience for future Rams by strengthening the connection between current students and young alumni. Giving back does not have to begin 10 or 15 years after graduation—it can start the day you walk across the stage, and it does not always have to be monetary. As young alumni, we may not always have the financial freedom to make a large donation, but we can give our time, experiences, mentorship, connections, and knowledge to help the next generation of Rams.

Keith, we are excited about your leadership...thank you!

New energy. New leadership. Same Ram pride. 🐏❤
