WSSU Music Department The Music Department embraces the study and enjoyment of music as necessary for healthy and enriched living. (NASM Accredited since 1974)

The music program prepares students for a variety of careers. Students pursue the study of music at the collegiate level and may combine the study of music with an outside field. A double major in the arts, humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences is possible. The music major may include such diverse areas as cultural musicology, cognitive studies of music, and advanced technology for musi

c. An audition is required as part of the application for admission. The Winston-Salem State University Department of Music has been an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) since 1974.
