VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ARABIC

WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY’s Middle East and South Asia Studies Program seeks applications for a one-year position as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Arabic language, beginning July 2021. We seek candidates who have a commitment to excellence in teaching. Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or ABD status) in Arabic linguistics, literature, second-language pedagogy, or a related area. We seek a candidate with native or near-native fluency in Arabic and English, and experience in teaching Arabic language courses of all levels as well as for specific purposes at the university level. The candidate will be expected to teach six courses per year or the equivalent.

Interested applicants should apply via the University’s career website at: https://hr.wfu.edu/careers/. The application should be submitted as ONE PDF file. A complete application will include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement that addresses the candidate’s commitment to creating an inclusive classroom environment for students from a range of diverse backgrounds, two sample syllabi, a lesson plan, and a 30-minute video teaching demonstration. Three letters of recommendation should be emailed to Wake Forest Human Resources, [email protected], and copied to Acacia Fike-Nelson, [email protected]. Review of applications will begin 30 April 2021. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but for full consideration they should be received by 20 May.
