When St. Petersburg firefighter Jacob Moskowitz couldn't make it to his own graduation, the Polk State Nursing Program brought the celebration to him at the Fire Department.

Moskowitz earned his Associate in Science in Nursing from Polk State in April through the program's transition track for students already working in related healthcare fields. He will conclude his tenure at St. Petersburg Fire Rescue in September.

“I was so surprised,” Moskowitz exclaimed. “Not only did Dr. Wilson and Professor Conley come, but they brought a staff member from each of my semesters at Polk with them. That right there just shows their dedication. It was incredibly humbling and meant so much to me.”

Governor Ron DeSantis announced Polk State College as one of several institutions to receive FloridaCommerce Florida Job Growth Grants in Jacksonville today in areas including aerospace, maritime defense and commercial transportation.

At Polk State, the $2 million grant will advance quality training and create a highly skilled pipeline of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) drivers to fulfill local workforce needs.

Polk State College hosted SpaceX External Affairs Manager Ryleigh Wogoman-Sackos today at the Polk State Clear Springs Advanced Technology Center in Bartow.

President Kamoutsas and members of the Polk State team shared about the College's FloridaCommerce Florida Job Growth Grant to establish the Welding Program and expand the Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Production Specialist Program.

They are also exploring partnerships and opportunities to help fill workforce needs for SpaceX — !
