What an incredible few days at the AAFP FUTURE Conference! As the conference comes to a close, we’re leaving inspired, energized, and grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many outstanding future family physicians.

It was a privilege to share what makes our residency program special, meet talented medical students from across the country, and have meaningful conversations about the future of Family Medicine. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, asked great questions, and shared your stories and aspirations with us.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. We can’t wait to see where your journey takes you, and we hope to welcome many of you to Cheyenne in the future!

Preparing to Care for the Toughest Athletes at Cheyenne Frontier Days! 🩺

As the world comes together for Cheyenne Frontier Days, our Family Medicine residents are preparing for an experience unlike any other—providing medical care for rodeo athletes competing in one of the most physically demanding sports in the world.

From evaluating injuries and making split-second medical decisions to working alongside experienced sports medicine physicians, orthopedic specialists, athletic trainers, and emergency personnel, this hands-on experience is an invaluable part of their medical education.

The rodeo arena becomes an extension of the classroom, where residents build confidence, sharpen their clinical skills, and gain firsthand experience caring for patients in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. More importantly, they learn the importance of teamwork, compassion, and providing exceptional care when it matters most.

These opportunities shape the physicians they become—preparing them to care for patients in every setting, from the clinic to the sidelines of major events.

We’re proud of our residents as they step into this unique role and represent the future of Family Medicine while helping keep the athletes of the “Daddy of ’Em All” safe. “Let’s go, let’s show, let’s rodeo!”

Graduation is more than the end of residency—it is the culmination of years of unwavering dedication, resilience, and compassion. This week, we celebrate our Family Medicine graduates as they transition from learners to independent physicians, prepared to care for individuals, families, and entire communities.
Throughout residency, they have answered late-night calls, celebrated life’s greatest joys with their patients, navigated moments of heartbreak, and learned that medicine is as much about listening and empathy as it is about diagnosis and treatment. They have grown into physicians who understand that every patient has a story, and every encounter is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
Family Medicine is built on relationships, continuity, and the privilege of caring for patients across every stage of life. Our graduates carry forward these values, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and humanity to improve the health of the communities they serve.
As they move onto independent practice , we celebrate not only what they have accomplished but also the countless lives they will touch in the years ahead. A physicians white coat represents more than a profession—it symbolizes trust, hope, service, and an enduring commitment to compassionate care.

Workshop conducted by Cheyenne Vision clinic for our residents. This is an annual workshop that is conducted by the clinic on common eye disorders in primary care. Residents learn how to use a slit lamp, foreign body removal, preventive care, common imaging modalities among other things. We are grateful for this ongoing collaboration with the clinic that serves as a great resource for the residents and staff at the UWFM clinic
